Pike fly fishing
Welcome hope this helps
First of all
The rod 9ft or longer pref #9wt line
With the banks on the river I prefer a 13ft rod 10wt line
THE REEL try to match with rod but don’t go smaller
Landing net if you don’t know how to handle pike
Use a decent heavy duty landing net I use gardener pole find it stronger than the rest
use a glove when gilling pike as have big teeth and sharp gill plates
please only do if you know how to handle pike

please use a unhooking mat were possible
You will need a good set of forceps or very long nose pliers
Please don’t put hand in mouth big teeth and it hurts when they bite
THE LEADER I use 30lb amnesia to seven strand wire trace

WOULD NOT RECOMMEND USING MONO/ BRAID STRAIGHT THROUGH BIG PIKE IN RIVER
THE FLY well I tend to go for roach /perch patten 4/5 inches long lots avalible

THE FISHING

Pike are a very shy fish and lazy fish
They tend to stay in the margins /eddys looking for injured or dead fish
Try golf ball sand bank/fiddle neck/deep pool at stmicheals
Hudsons has a good head of pike as does bracken
Had no joy at kippax ha ha one pike 6inches long
I tend to go with friends as landing pike can be fun
TREAT THEM WITH CARE
Tight lines hope this helps  good luck      barrie mack
